Crouch End Communal Garden

This garden was created by local residents who finance, plant and maintain it. The garden consists of a large grass area for play and socialising, an orchard and the gardening team are gradually creating lovely beds of mixed planting around the perimeter of the garden. I was invited to design the layout and planting for the far end of the garden, a south facing sun-trap. The committee wanted to make it into something a little wilder, inspired by grasses and naturalistic planting, with somewhere to sit and meet friends or where they could enjoy the view of the rest of the garden through the grasses.

This is a collaboration that has been a joy to work on. It is still a work in progress. We have completed the first planting and plan to plant the remainder in spring, once the residents have finished building the seating area.
