Harlesden Town Garden

Local volunteers got together with LIFT (a Harlesden based community organisation) and with financial help from Brent and other agencies have revived this less than inspiring pocket park.

Much has been achieved in the time since Friends of Harlesden town garden was formed: a new multi-use games area, new playground, a raised bed area bounded by mixed hedging, a wild flower garden, paths and benches.

Work continues, with regular event days and volunteering by local youth groups and schools and there is still much to do, but in the summer of 2014 we realised we had turned the park around from a neglected space into a community hub. Nurseries had sports days here and now children use it every day. There are ball games, picnickers, and central to the whole project, locals growing their own produce with children regularly joining in to help and learn.
